Your Final Weeks of Summer

How to spend these last few weeks

This one is for all of the students who’ve just graduated from high school. Congrats! We hope that all of those months of SAT prepping, studying for AP exams, and trying to collect as many memories as possible have worked out in your favor. A good amount of you who’ve chosen college as the next step in the road have probably already signed the paperwork and put down a deposit on your dream school (we hope). With a little less than two-months left of summertime, you’re probably trying to jam pack as much rest and relaxation into the time of freedom that you have left! However, while sleeping in and laying around is nice, it’s not an effective use of your final months of being free of responsibilities.

The purgatory between graduation and college orientation is fleeting and will pass by in the blink of an eye. When you go to college, you likely will be far away from your friends and your family and keeping in touch will become increasingly difficult. Today, on the Barefoot Campus Outfitter blog, we’re going to give you a list of all of the things you should be fitting into your final weeks of freedom.

See Your Family

While you probably can’t wait for the freedom that college life holds, you’re still going to miss your parents! Yes, the nagging to clean your room might be annoying, but they’re still the people that have supported you and brought you to this point. Spend as much quality time with them as possible. Our college apparel company recognizes the unmatched bond that you share with your parents and we suggest indulging in all of the cheesy things that they love to do. Watch family videos, assist them with errands, and tell them you love them! In just a few months, you’ll be wishing you did.

Be Adventurous with Your Friends

Take chances this summer with your best friends and create memories that are only seen in the movies. Go on roadtrips, revisit beloved places, and laugh until you’re in pain. Our college gear company recognizes the value that good times have on friendship and we insist that you use this time to create memories that last. Do the things that you’ve always wanted to do and make sure to take enough photos to fill up your phone or camera’s memory! It’ll be worth it.

Tie Up Loose Ends

If you’re going away for school, then it might be a few months before you make your way back to the motherland. This also means that you might not see some of the people that you’ve known forever for a very long time. If you’ve had a falling out with someone or have a hostile relationship, now is the time to make amends. You never know that the future holds and making amends is going to do you well in the long run.

Reflect

The second you embark on your college journey, you’ll realize that the change that follows is both unstoppable and inevitable. College pushes us to mature and become a better version of our previous selves. While change may seem scary, it’s a part of life. Barefoot Campus Outfitter views change as a positive, as long as you’re able to reflect on this change. Before going off to college, take some time to reflect on the changes you’ve experienced in high school and how they have made you the person you are today. Reflecting on the past and the present will go along way with the transition process.

Make a Memory Box

In college, despite constantly being surrounded by people, loneliness will creep in. During these times, it’s best to whip out a memory box. A memory box is anything you want it to be, but its purpose is to hold within its walls reminders of good times back home. Pack it with pictures of fun times, notes and birthday cards, old concert tickets, and whatever else brings you back to the happiness. Use this free time to sort through your home and bedroom to find things to stick into the box. Not only will this time allow you to make the best memory box possible, it will also bring on a slew of nostalgia and memories attached to these items. A fresh reminder of all of the special times in life will make the lonely times much less lonely.

Plan a Trip

This summer, our online college apparel shop urges you to take a trip. Whether it be with your friends, family, or an organization, travelling before embarking on your college journey will be especially good on the mind. Getting away for a little while can help ease the anxiety of starting the next chapter in your life by filling the holes with fun times and business. Even a day trip to the city or the beach can aid in opening up the mind. Additionally, when you start college, you’ll be invested in classes and life on campus which oftentimes make trips harder to take. Use this free time to see some new things and gain new experiences.

Again, congratulations on the milestone. College is a huge investment that comes with an even bigger payoff. Don’t use these next few weeks to do nothing but instead utilize this free time to prepare yourself for the years to come. Nothing will be the same after you leave home, and that isn’t necessarily a bad time.
