First of all, Happy October everyone, from your friends at Barefoot Campus Outfitter! A couple blogs ago I was excited to talk about the first day of the fall season and now I’m excited that it’s officially October! This is my favorite month of the year because I can watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown over and over again with zero shame behind it. Clearly, you know that isn’t the direction of my blog this week but it goes hand in hand because it’s finally cooling off some outside… WHICH MEANS that the ground is cooling off for our little puppers paws! YAY! The Texas heat really makes it not fun for my six-month-old Corgi to take a stroll around anywhere because it burns her little paws. INSTANT HEARTACHE INSIDE OF ME. L o l, I’m an obsessive dog momma and I know there are tons of you out there just like me so I wanted to post a short and sweet blog of some cute little things for our fur-babies.

FALL YUMMIES

They should be able to FALL in love with fall, too! Am I right?! Check out these yummo-snacks for your fur baby! Totally safe, healthy and non-fattening! These Pumpkin Apple Treats will fill up your little nuggets and the taste will have them begging for more. I love that these are made with straight pumpkin and apples. My pup only gets healthy snacks like spoonfuls of canned 100% pumpkin, apples, and even carrots! She goes CRAZY about pumpkin and carrots… they are literally her favorite. Pumpkin is a great filler that has zero fat so, for my hungry nugget, it has been a blessing. Pumpkin even cures an upset tummy because it coats their stomachs ~ double win.

*Make sure you get 100% PURE Pumpkin in the can (for this recipe and just to give them spoonfuls of happiness)! It’s in the baking aisle of the grocery store but you definitely do not want the pumpkin filler mix*

*Also, make sure to remove the core and seeds from the apple*

Ingredients

  • 4-4.5 cups of oatmeal
  • 1 medium-sized apple
  • 1 egg
  • 1 CUP canned pumpkin

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Grind down the oatmeal in a blender or a food processor –> move to a mixing bowl
  3. Core apple and remove every seed. Grate apple by hand or by the processor and move to bowl with oatmeal.
  4. Add egg and cup of pumpkin to oatmeal/apple bowl and mix well to combine. This will result in a thick and tacky mixture.
  5. On a surface dusted with oatmeal, roll out the dough to 1/2″ thick. Use the doggy bone cookie cutter or heart-shaped cookie cutter and move to the lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes (or until golden & crisp)… take out & let cool to room temperature!

These pup-approved, fall goodies will last up to a week! Store in an airtight container!

Accessories that you won’t be able to resist…

I just had to include this little accessory because it’s so necessary ( v-important to have a tag on your pup’s collar…) and way too cute! I’ve been meaning to get June (my pup) a new tag with this on it but I’m just wondering if I could get my phone number on the other side of it? I’m still wondering how that works and trying to figure that out first but how stinking precious AND TRUE are these name tags?! I’m convinced June would just be fine on her own, exploring while I would be frantic and hyperventilating if she went missing.

I couldn’t blog about fur-babies without putting this into it, I actually think they are pretty funny.

A Stylin’ Pooch

I have never been opposed to dog sweaters and costumes… I uncontrollably laugh at all the Facebook posts you see of the dogs totally sitting in shame with their Halloween or Christmas costumes on. I love it! Hellooo, they want a coat for when it’s snowing and a sweater in the fall too, right?! Okay, maybe not all of them but the cuteness is too real to pass up! June loves sporting her little “doggy tees” and wears her momma’s school colors beautifully! Want your fur-baby to stride in campus pride too?! You’re in LUCK!
