Oh, hello! Happy summer, everybody! What’re more wonderful than sunny days filled with pool parties and beach days that roll through a day-glo sunset before settling into the most memorable nights of the year? And, unless you’re a soul making up a few classes over the summer, no school! Summer is the perfect time to cross as many items off of the bucket list as possible while also forming memories with your best friends that will never be forgotten! Because of the combination of stunning weather and oodles of free time, summers are the ultimate times to unearth your inner nomad and set forth on adventures. Don’t let this summer pass by without stopping by some of these destinations in our very own country. And, don’t forget to pack your Barefoot Campus Outfitter college apparel!
San Francisco, California
Sitting on the dock of the Bay, not wasting time, because a second in San Francisco is worth an hour elsewhere! Take your imagination for a ride and follow in the footsteps of thousands of artists, musicians, and writers to San Fran and have the time of your life. Take a drive down the scenic Route 1, blasting some Pearl Jam and opening the windows so that the wind blows through your hair. Don’t leave the city before taking a stroll along Baker Beach, crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge, and ordering some authentic Mexican in the Mission District! Nothing beats this beautiful city!
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
This not-quite-the-Midwest city has far grown from its reputation of being industrial and concentrated with. The glistening, progressive metropolis of Allegheny County in Pennsylvania is home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and back to back Stanley Cup champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins! Stop by the Strip District and eat at the original, famous Primanti Brothers. If huge sandwiches stuffed with french fries and coleslaw isn’t up your alley, don’t worry! Pittsburgh has tons of restaurants of all tastes and varieties. Don’t forget to ride up the incline for the best view and walk around the famous Andy Warhol Museum!
Cape Cod, Massachusetts
The Kennedy’s frequent the Cape for a good reason. Just a small ways away from Boston, this quaint area stretches from Sandwich and goes for miles up until Provincetown! Cape Cod is the ultimate summer destination with its iconic home style, miles of beautiful beaches, and seafood for days. Don’t miss out on Cape Cod sunsets and shopping when you get there. If you have time, take a ferry to the beautiful Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket for the ultimate Nautical experience.
Stone Harbor, New Jersey
While the hustle and bustle of big cities are exciting, nothing beats a week at the beach. This small New Jersey town situated on the coast of the Atlantic combines clean, sandy beaches, a quaint shopping and restaurant strip, and, of course, ice cream! Get some beloved Kohr Bros Ice Cream (we recommend creamsicle) or, even better, order the “blue one” from Springer’s. You’ll thank us later! Miami, Florida
What beats the heat better than a cool drink poolside? Not only is Miami jam-packed with some of the craziest nightclubs in the country, but the blue waters that line the coast make the city suitable for beach bums and party animals alike. Get the gang together and stay at one of the iconic hotels, spend the days in the warm sunshine, and top the day off at a fun club or a delicious Cuban restaurant. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
Chicago, Illinois
Can’t make Lollapalooza at the end of the month? Don’t fret. There’s still plenty of things to do in the Windy City. See a Cubs game or take a stroll in Millennium Park. Chicago doesn’t know when to stop when it comes to offering fun things to do.
