Fredericksburg Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg, Texas

Fredericksburg or Fritztown as old-time German residents sometimes refer to it as, is one of the most popular getaways in Texas. It has so much to offer and you can never get enough of it. Fredericksburg is a German-based town that is full of traditions but is constantly growing and creating new traditions too. It’s also home to Texas German, which is the dialect created by first generations of German settlers who refused to learn English. There are German influences everywhere in Fredericksburg. Restaurants likeĀ Auslanders, Fredericksburg Brewery, and Der Lindenbaum, to name a few, along with all of the small town shopping on Main Street–E Candles, Zertz, D’vinely Design, Eway Furniture, and our personal favorite…Barefoot Campus Outfitter šŸ˜‰ If shopping isn’t really your style, there are plenty of wineries on the outside of Fredericksburg–Fredericksburg Winery, Grape Creek Vineyards on Main, Texas Grapes Wine Tours, Fiesta Winery, and Texas Vineyards & Beyond…to name a few. Some even have a small shop on Main Street where you can get a tasting. And yes…it’s legal to walk on Main Street with a beer or a nice glass of wine. (Fun Fact: Barefoot even hands it out on Fridays and Saturdays!!)
