Top Places to Visit in Waco This Summer

BSR Cable Park

Home of the world’s largest lazy river and the Royal Flush slide, BSR Cable Park is a fun-filled atmosphere for large groups and younger crowds. It is a great place to hang out for one day or rent a cabin for the entire weekend. Expect to stay at least few hours, play sand volleyball and enjoy soaking up the sun. We highly recommend bringing a Go Pro and of a course, a selfie stick to capture your ride down the Royal Flush.
Cameron Park

Cameron Park is one of the largest municipal parks in Texas and has provided Wacoans with ready access to natural beauty and recreational activities for over one hundred years.
Next door to downtown, the 400-acre park has towering trees, two rivers, breathtaking cliffs and a National Recreation Trail system. It is the ideal place for exploring nature, family gatherings, picnics, hiking, bike rides or simply just taking a stroll along the river.

Junque in the Trunk

Open Thursday through Sunday, Junque in the Trunk’s limited shopping hours are so worth it. Junque in the Trunk gives new life to antique pieces and has mastered the art of shabby chic. If blank canvases are more your thing, there is an entire section of unfinished furniture to browse in addition to funky jewelry, old signs and reclaimed pieces like window shutters and shelves.

Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market

If you are one of the many who enjoys visiting farmer markets, you are in luck. The Waco Downtown Farmers Market (located at 400 South University Parks Drives and open every Saturday from 9am-1pm) is probably the best there is. The Market is a non-profit organization with a little over 200 vendors and merchants who have deep Texas roots in nurseries, farming, meat and seafood provision and bakeries. The merchants produce what they sell every week, so you can guarantee the food to be very fresh. Not only is it important to support the families represented by the merchants, it is a great place to take your friends. We recommend bringing your appetite, cash and a bag to carry all the goodies you buy.

Magnolia Market at The Silos

If you’re a fan of HGTV’s Fixer Upper, then you’ve probably already made a trip to Waco to visit The Silos. If not, it should definitely be on your bucket list! Not only is it a fun place to shop with a welcoming and warm atmosphere, there is a big lawn to relax and play games, a garden that will put anyone to shame and a variety of food trucks to grab a bite to eat. We definitely recommend visiting during the week to avoid large crowds and don’t forget to stop by the Silos Baking Co. filled with Joanna’s personal recipes and hand-picked favorites on your way out!
Vitek’s BBQ

A family owned and operated since 1915, Vitek’s is a stop you must make when traveling through Waco. It was originally known as a grocery store and meat market that later started making their own sausage, cooking barbecue on a portable pit and serving barbecue sandwiches. The Gut Pak, a decadent combination of Frito’s corn chips, hand-chopped brisket, sausage, bean, pickles, onions and jalapenos piled high, was created in 1983 and is still Vitek’s most famous offering today. It has been named “Best College Eats” and has gained notoriety with national media like ESPN. It offers great customer service, cold beer and is conveniently located right across the street from Barefoot!
Waco Suspension Bridge

The Waco Suspension Bridge is the oldest Suspension Bridge still standing in Texas. Built it 1870, it was the first bridge across the Brazos River. This stunning bridge was built with cables supplied from John Roebling’s firm, which built the Brooklyn Bridge. Today, it is a pedestrian-only bridge and is a wonderful place to watch the river roll by, take pictures, and watch the sunset.
And last but not least…
